Launched in 1968 as a fishing trawler under the name White Horse, this ship had come from Zeebrugge built by the Langerbrugge shipyard. A severe summer storm in July 1989 destroyed the White Horse and it washed ashore on Seaford Beach, east of Sussex (UK).
1989
The sea can be both beautiful and dangerous, and it’s during the most treacherous moments that the bravery of individuals can truly shine. This is the case with Robert Pattern, part of the former lifeboat crew. In 1989 risked his own life to save the life of his fellow crewmember. This rescue story is a testament to the power of human compassion and bravery in the face of danger. You can read the full story here
1999
In 1999, the ship was taken to the historic Metz shipyard in Urk for a complete transformation into an expedition trawler. With this new character, Thales was stationed in the center of Rotterdam and actively deployed within the shipping industry under the leadership of a Rotterdam couple.
2021
Her latest adventure began in 2021, with a total makeover that preserved her spirit and transformed the ship into a luxury yacht. Hower, the powerful and unique engine remained the same. Discover the power behind Thales and read more about the engines here. The permanent berth is located within the Heritage Harbors of Rotterdam at the Leuvehaven. Thales is surrounded by other historical commercial vessels that are also part of this foundation.
For a long time, the ship was part of the (day) charter fleet of the close-knit Rotterdam couple: Jarig and Marion Roode. They have actively and successfully used the ship for pleasure cruises in Rotterdam. All trips were taken care of by them completely independently. Because of this, Thales has become a sailing legend in Rotterdam.
Both sailing and on the quay, Thales is a true experience. We look forward to taking our guests onto the waters of Rotterdam and through its characteristic harbors. Thales is the only commercial ship in Rotterdam which is authorized to sail in the harbor basins!
On this iconic sailing heirloom, enjoying life as well as dinners or meetings can be done on a higher level. Unique in its kind, as the best-kept secret in the harbor, it forms a striking location where leading entrepreneurs and bon vivants meet.
